Case note

From a paper register to a live shop floor

A fabric dyeing unit tracked customer lots in a hand-written register. Nobody could say where a lot was without walking to the floor, and costing was guesswork at month end.

We modelled the job-work flow in ERPNext: fabric received against a customer lot, moved through dyeing and finishing as stock entries, then billed on processed weight. Supervisors update status from a tablet; the office prints a challan that matches what the customer already recognises.

Outcome

  • Lot status visible to the office in real time
  • Invoices raised on actual processed weight
  • Month-end closing cut from days to hours
  • Shade and recipe history kept per customer
  • Staff trained on the floor, not in a classroom
